Job summary

Western Downs Regional Council is seeking a Development Engineer to join its planning and development function in Queensland. The role spans subdivisions, roads, stormwater and infrastructure planning, with a practical, hands-on approach and a supportive team.

You will provide input throughout the development assessment process, working with planners, developers and internal teams in a collaborative environment. A Degree in Civil Engineering is mandatory and RPEQ is highly regarded.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering is mandatory.
• Experience across subdivisions and civil infrastructure.
• Knowledge of development assessment and planning legislation.
• Clear ability to assess stormwater, flooding and traffic matters.
• Strong written and verbal communication, and collaboration with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Assess development applications and operational works.
• Review engineering designs and technical reports for stormwater, flooding, and traffic.
• Provide practical engineering advice on subdivisions and development proposals.
• Conduct site inspections and monitor compliance with approvals.
• Support pre-lodgement discussions with developers and consultants.
• Contribute to infrastructure planning, policy and LGIP matters.
• Collaborate to resolve technical issues and achieve sensible outcomes.
