Job summary

The Hills Shire Council is seeking a Development Compliance Officer to join a collaborative team that values technical expertise, problem solving and community safety. You will investigate complex compliance matters, provide expert advice and support continuous improvement across development and building compliance activities.

You will hold a current Class C licence, White Card and qualifications in Building Surveying or related field, with 1–2 years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Current Class C Drivers Licence.
• White Card - General Construction Induction.
• Development Compliance Officer, 1-2 years working knowledge and experience of relevant Acts, Legislation, Regulations and Standards.
• Diploma/Degree qualifications in Building Surveying, Planning, Compliance or similar field or equivalent industry experience in an enforcement role.

Responsibilities

• Carry out inspections, issue orders and penalty infringement notices.
• Enforce legislation requirements and regulations whilst abiding by relevant Acts.
• Investigate complaints, defects incidents and offences.
• Monitor development, building and subdivision sites.
• Prepare statement of basic facts, contentions, briefs of evidence and affidavits as well as appear in court.
• Assess and determine Building Information Certificates.
