Job summary

Hydro Tasmania is seeking a senior Engineering Planning Lead based in Hobart or Launceston to guide a team of engineers through the capital program’s design phases. You’ll translate complex refurbishment and asset renewal concepts into practical, safe, and commercially sound solutions, collaborating with project leaders and stakeholders.

Reporting to the Engineering Planning Manager, you’ll drive governance, design baselines, and continuous improvement across lifecycles while shaping Hydro

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience leading engineering teams and delivering complex capital projects.
• Strong knowledge of design, refurbishment and project delivery lifecycles.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a high-performing team of engineers to deliver project outcomes.
• Plan and deliver complex design packages across major capital, refurbishment and asset renewal projects.
• Coordinate engineering resources, schedules, deliverables and project priorities.
• Provide technical leadership and governance, maintaining design baselines, engineering standards and Safety in Design principles.
• Manage design changes, technical risks and multidisciplinary interfaces throughout project lifecycles.
• Build trusted relationships and translate complex technical concepts into clear insights for stakeholders and decision-makers.
• Drive continuous improvement in engineering, design management and project delivery practices in support of long-term business objectives.
