Job summary

ZIMMERMANN is seeking motivated and detail-oriented Design Room Assistants to join our Design team on a casual basis. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in a fast‑paced luxury fashion environment and support the design process from concept through to production.

Based in Sydney, you will assist with day-to-day tasks, including hand sewing and sample preparation, while contributing to the full design and development process in a global luxury brand.

Qualifications

• Currently studying or recently graduated in Fashion Design or a related field.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Confident communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Assisting the design team with day-to-day tasks in the design room to support the development of seasonal collections.
• Creating and updating tech sketches in line with designer direction, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
• Undertaking hand sewing, and sample cutting to support fittings and sample development.
• Producing paper dollies for placement artwork, embroidery layouts, and cutting instructions.
• Assisting with garment preparation for fittings, including steaming, labelling, and organising samples.
• Running errands as required, including deliveries and collections from local dyers, printers, and fabric or trim suppliers.
• Organising and maintaining samples, fabrics, and trims within the design room.
• Assisting with general design room administration and ad-hoc tasks to ensure smooth daily operations.

About You:
