Job summary

Mister Zimi is seeking an Assistant Designer & Product Developer to join our Lifestyle Categories team in Australia. You will work closely with designers and the product development group across denim, footwear, swim, overswim and knitwear — handling fit, construction, tech packs, and all admin requirements to bring products to market.

You will manage samples, update tech packs, coordinate with suppliers, track development timelines, and support range reviews.

Assistant Designer & Product Developer - Lifestyle Categories

Reporting to the Senior Designer of Lifestyle Categories, you will use your skills and expertise in fit and construction, design, and you will be responsible for all the admin requirements involved in bringing the product to market.

Working closely with the designers and product development team, you will be across every stage of the pre-production process — from attending fit sessions, to managing samples, coordinating fabric testing, and keeping our product administration up to date and running at a fast pace so that the product can go to market. This is a hands‑on, detail‑driven role for someone who takes real pride in garments and knows that the difference is always in the details. Our Lifestyle categories include: Denim, Footwear, Swim, Overswim and Knitwear.

Key Responsibilities

Sample Management

• Receive, label, and store all incoming samples in the office
• Maintain the physical sample library in collaboration with the design and marketing team
• Create and maintain a system for ongoing sample tracking, both online and in the office
• Manage outgoing samples as needed

Design Assist/Garment Tech - Lifestyle

• Prepare and update tech packs with all relevant information and have these approved by the Designer
• Prepare design packs and assist with technical specifications for suppliers
• Measure and review fit samples, processing fit comments and design changes directly in tech packs and with Lifestyle suppliers as directed by Creative Director and/or Designer
• Prepare SGS comments in time for inspection when third party inspections are required
• Trend Research for future development
• Ensure correct labels are used on garments, overseeing care label information
• Ensure BOM in tech packs is accurate and up to date
• Track PP sample approval status and communicate PP approvals with suppliers and Production Manager once signed off by the Creative Director & Designer

Timeline & Production Coordination

• Monitor development and production timelines: in collaboration with the Designer, ensuring new development tech packs are sent out on time and initiates after-ranging fit sessions; in collaboration with the Production Manager, ensures shipment samples are sent on time for SGS comment processing - when required
• Maintain an overview of development and production timelines for Lifestyle, working from designer trackers, Airtable, and critical path, to proactively flag risks or delays to the Production Manager and Designer

General / Admin Support

• Support the design team with day-to-day administrative tasks
• Support the design team with range board management and updates
• Create marketing look sheets as required
• Create lifestyle product style dot points for marketing
• Assist with preparing presentation materials for range reviews
• Support administrative tasks including filing, parcel send-offs, and maintaining accurate design documentation
