Job summary

Longreach Recruitment is seeking a Design Manager for WA-based commercial construction projects. The role focuses on coordinating the design process during the Early Contractor Involvement phase, working with internal teams, consultants, architects and other stakeholders to align design with budgets and timelines.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Design Manager in commercial construction.
• Main contractor experience on large-scale projects is essential.
• Strong knowledge of design development, buildability, value engineering and constructability.
• Experience managing design consultants and coordinating multi-disciplinary teams.
• Aged care, apartment, residential high-rise or student accommodation experience is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the design process throughout the ECI phase.
• Manage design consultants, architects and other key stakeholders.
• Review design documentation to ensure alignment with project requirements, budgets and programme.
• Identify design risks, buildability issues and opportunities for value engineering.
• Collaborate with estimating, construction and pre-contracts teams to support project planning and coordinate design reviews.
• Assist in developing practical, cost-effective design solutions.
• Support the transition from ECI into construction.
