BESIX Watpac is seeking a Design Manager to join our Qld, NT & NZ Construction team. You will lead design documentation, coordinate consultants and ensure regulatory compliance across a challenging portfolio of projects in Queensland and beyond.

The role requires collaboration with the construction team to optimize constructability, drive efficiencies, and shape delivery methodology while maintaining high design standards and quality control.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Construction Management / Architecture / Engineering.
• Experience with large scale D&C building projects from start to finish.
• Ability to collaborate with external consultants for optimal outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage consultants to deliver high quality design documentation on time and on budget.
• Lead the review of project design for regulatory and building compliance.
• Review design for constructability with construction team and subcontractors to drive efficiency.

Job Description

BESIX Watpac is seeking a Design Manager to join our Qld, NT & NZ Construction team due to a strong pipeline of projects in Queensland. This role is key to ensuring excellence in project delivery through strong design leadership and coordination.

The key responsibilities of this position include:

• Lead and manage consultants to deliver high quality design documentation on time, on budget as well as in compliance with the Project Brief.
• Lead the review of the project design for regulatory and building compliance.
• Review the design for constructability in collaboration with the construction team and trade subcontractors to drive efficiencies during delivery.
• Actively participate in the methodology development for the delivery of the project.
• Maintain design quality control management.
  
  

Qualifications

The incumbent in this role will require the following qualifications and experience:

• Tertiary Qualification in a relevant discipline – Construction Management / Architecture / Engineering.
• Prior experience working with a principal contractor delivering large scale D&C building projects from commencement to completion.
• Ability to collaborate with external consultants to obtain best for project outcomes.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver results in a dynamic, fast paced environment.
