Job summary

CPB Contractors Pty, in joint venture with UGL, leads a pivotal Design Manager (CSA) role for a new multi-megawatt data centre in Truganina, Melbourne. You will plan, coordinate and deliver Civil, Structural and Architectural design across complex systems, ensuring safety, quality and constructability from concept to delivery.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil, Structural, Architectural engineering or related field.
• Extensive CSA design program experience in infrastructure/industrial sectors.

• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

CPB Contractors in joint venture with UGL and supported by EIC, fellow CIMIC Group companies, is proud to be driving the ground-up development of a multi-megawatt data centre in Truganina in the western suburbs of Melbourne. As the trusted delivery partners for a global digital infrastructure platform, we will be frontiering mission critical facilities and infrastructure. Our expertise will seamlessly integrate complex systems across mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire, power and telecommunications among much more.

Being an integrated member of the ACS company group, we will leverage and empower this build by drawing on the shared knowledge and aligned systems across an international network to bring global best practice to our region.

The 80 MW data centre will consist of two adjoining 40MW buildings featuring complex internally integrated electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, fire protection, ICT and security systems. Construction will also involve extensive external inground services works, modular electrical equipment including HV / Fire protection facilities construction and civil finishing works.

We are seeking an experienced Design Manager (Civil, Structural & Architectural - CSA) to lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of multidisciplinary design solutions.

This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for managing design outcomes from concept through delivery, ensuring safety, quality, constructability, stakeholder satisfaction, and commercial success. You'll work closely with project managers, engineering teams, contractors, and clients to drive design excellence and project performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the delivery of the Civil, Structural and Architectural (CSA) design package
• Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams, consultants, and technical specialists.
• Ensure designs comply with client requirements, relevant standards, regulatory obligations, and safety-in-design principles.
• Drive design reviews, value engineering initiatives, and constructability assessments.
• Manage design schedules, budgets, risks, and change control processes.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers and designers.
• Collaborate with project delivery teams to ensure seamless transition from design to construction.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and delivery partners.
• Champion innovation, sustainability, and continuous improvement in design practices.

About You

You are a collaborative and influential leader with a strong technical foundation and a passion for delivering high-quality project outcomes.

You will bring:

• Degree qualification in Civil, Structural, Architectural, or a related engineering discipline.
• Extensive experience managing complex CSA design programs within infrastructure, energy, resources, utilities, transport, or industrial sectors.
• Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary design teams and consultants.
• Strong understanding of design management methodologies, risk management, and project delivery frameworks.
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Commercial acumen with the ability to balance quality, cost, and schedule outcomes.
• Professional registration or chartered status will be highly regarded.
