An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Design Manager to join an award-winning construction company, working across several high-rise residential apartment projects in some of Sydney’s most sought-after locations.

This is a key role within the team delivering a $120m high-density residential apartment project on Sydney’s lower north shore. Within this role, you will be taking ownership of the design process from early concept and planning through to construction and delivery.

The Opportunity

As Design Manager, you will work closely with development, project and construction teams, as well as leading external architects, consultants and stakeholders to ensure projects are designed and delivered to the highest standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading and managing the design process across high-rise residential projects
• Coordinating architects, engineers, consultants and specialist design teams
• Managing design development from concept through planning, documentation and construction
• Driving design outcomes that balance quality, functionality, commercial objectives and buildability
• Reviewing design documentation and resolving design issues throughout the project lifecycle
• Managing design programs, budgets, consultant deliverables and key project milestones
• Working closely with construction and development teams to ensure a seamless transition from design through to delivery
• Identifying opportunities to improve design outcomes, project efficiency and value

About You

We are looking for an experienced Design Manager with extensive Class 2 residential experience and a strong understanding of the complexities associated with high-rise apartment developments.

You will ideally have:

• Extensive experience managing the design of Class 2 high-rise residential projects
• A strong understanding of apartment design, documentation and construction
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary consultant teams
• The ability to confidently manage architects, engineers and external stakeholders
• Strong technical understanding combined with commercial awareness
• Excellent communication, coordination and stakeholder-management skills
• The ability to take ownership of projects and drive outcomes
• A relevant tertiary qualification in Architecture, Construction, Engineering or a related discipline
