Job summary

IAG Defence & National Security is seeking a Design Lead in Canberra to provide technical leadership and systems engineering management for a Defence communications and information systems capability program. You will ensure interoperability, security and fit-for-purpose design across the lifecycle.

Qualifications

• NV1 security clearance current
• Engineering or Computer Science degree as required
• Experience in Systems Engineering Management roles
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office, databases and information systems
• Excellent organisational and leadership skills
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
• Defence ICT programs or technical design roles experience
• Project management experience or skills
• Experience in Defence-related roles preferred
• Knowledge of Defence Capability Lifecycle highly regarded

Responsibilities

• Assure technical coherence of capability design and integration and ensure compliance with architecture standards
• Lead senior technical stakeholder engagement for design of tranches and subsystems
• Prepare briefs for senior governance committees
• Support business case development and briefings
• Participate in working groups and provide specialist advice
• Oversee project activities, risk reduction and maturity assessments
• Lead technical engagement across Defence, government agencies and international partners
• Contribute to program deliverables and documentation
• Provide technical leadership across project systems engineering teams
• Engage with stakeholders to identify gaps and risks and manage delivery obstacles
• Collaborate with Defence personnel and contractors
• Support governance activities and align with Defence environment
