Job summary

Triple M Tray Bodies on the Gold Coast region is seeking a Design and Process Engineer to join the Design & Development Team. You will influence manufacturing improvements, design automotive accessories, and develop tooling and CAD drawings with SolidWorks and AutoCAD.

Full-time on-site role with cross-functional collaboration across production and suppliers. The role requires experience in industrial/mechanical design, knowledge of PDM/ SolidWorks, strong Excel skills, and a proactive,

Qualifications

• Experience in industrial or mechanical design, including press tool design, jigs, gauges and fixtures.
• Recent verifiable design/process engineer experience in automotive or volume manufacturing.
• Experience with aluminium, sheet metal, weldments and plastics.
• Experience with PDM and SolidWorks.
• Strong MS Excel and database skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to travel interstate occasionally.
• Eligible to work in Australia full-time.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design and development as part of the Design & Development Team.
• Lead continuous improvement and 5S projects.
• Research and implement new machinery and equipment, incl. robotic/automatous tech.
• Design and develop press tools, jigs, gauges, and fixtures.
• Create and edit CNC and technical programs for key manufacturing machinery.
• Create and maintain CAD drawings in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Develop manufacturing documentation and fitting instructions.
• Create and maintain company Bills of Materials and data trees.
• Collaborate with customers, suppliers and Production for seamless implementations.
• Conduct design verification to comply with Australian Design Rules and guidelines.
• Extract and analyze bulk data for business improvements.

Job description

THE ROLE:

Reporting directly to the Design & Development Manager, the successful candidate will be an accomplished and professional Design and Process Engineer. This individual will also work closely with company Management and other Key Staff Members as an integral part of the Design & Development Team. The successful candidate will be a proactive and visible figure in our workplace, providing high-level advice and assistance in:

• Focus on continuous improvement and 5S projects.
• Research and implement new machinery and equipment, including robotic/automatous technology, to streamline manufacturing capabilities.
• Design and develop press tools, jigs, gauges, and fixtures to meet production requirements and enhance manufacturing efficiency.
• Create and edit CNC and technical programs for key manufacturing machinery.
• Create, edit, and maintain CAD drawings in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Create and maintain manufacturing documentation and fitting instructions for company products.
• Create and maintain companyBills of Materialinformation and data trees.
• Design and develop automotive accessories for the ute and truck body markets.
• Liaise closely with key customers, suppliers, and our company's Production team to ensure new developments, enhancements, and refinements are implemented seamlessly.
• Conduct design verification to comply with applicable Australian Design Rules, manufacturer's Body Builder Guidelines, and other regulatory requirements.
• Extracting and analysing bulk data for business improvement activities.

WHAT WE’RE SEEKING:

• Demonstrated experience inIndustrial or Mechanical design, including Press Tool Design, jig, gauges and fixturesis highly regarded.
• Recent and verifiable work experience in a comparableDesign/Process Engineerrole.Previous experience inautomotive or volumemanufacturingenvironments will be highly regarded.
• Verifiable experience with designing products of different materials, such as aluminium (extrusions & castings), sheet metal development, weldments, and plastics (injection/extrusion/blow/rotation moulding) will also be highly regarded.
• Verifiable experience and conversance inPDMAdministration and Solidworks Professional.
• High level MS Excel and other database software skills.
• Outstandingcommunicationand team collaboration skills, with particular focus on building open, positive stakeholder relationships.
• A willingness to travel interstate occasionally for short periods, to satisfy key project requirements.
• Candidates must be available for work Monday to Friday, between8:00am to 5:00pm.General hours for the position will be between 40-45 each week - times may be negotiated to some extent with the Design and Development Manager.
