JJR Engineering in Yatala, Australia is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Mechanical Engineering Division. You will design specialised vehicles and equipment for waste, transport and environmental industries, collaborating with engineers and workshop staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience and proficiency in SolidWorks.

Responsibilities

• Develop conceptual and detailed designs of specialised vehicles and equipment.
• Produce and assist with development of detailed design drawings for manufacture.
• Conduct weight distribution analysis in unique scenarios.
• Maintain workshop workflow within a bespoke engineering schedule.
• Develop customer and supplier relationships and provide technical assistance.
• Generate technical documents, work instructions and BOMs.
• Analyse products for design improvements meeting Australian requirements.

ABOUT THIS ROLE

Mechanical Design Engineer.

The role will be based in our Mechanical Engineering Division of JJR Engineering where we manufacture special purpose vehicles and technical equipment for use in the waste, transport, recyclables, and environmental industries.

Our Mechanical Engineering team is highly valued and functions as an essential foundation of our fleet and wider business.

With the autonomy to freely apply your technical aptitude and creative flair, this opportunity will see you collaborating with Engineers and hands‑on workshop personnel.

You’ll benefit from a range activities and opportunities to diversify your skills, including R&D projects, product design support, mobile & stationary equipment design, and support for business-wide mechanical operations.

Ongoing engagement with external stakeholders, suppliers, and customers, will see you also building relationships, managing workflows, and offering technical guidance.

This position is a full-time, permanent role (Monday to Thursday), based at our site in Yatala.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop conceptual and detailed designs of specialised vehicles and equipment
• Produce and assist with development of detailed design drawings for manufacture
• Conduct weight distribution analysis in unique and changing scenarios
• Operate within a bespoke engineering schedule to maintain a healthy workshop workflow
• Develop customer and supplier relationships and provide technical assistance to both
• The autonomy to generate technical documentation, work instructions, BOM etc
• Analyse existing products for design and continuous process improvement, ensuring they continue to meet Australian legislative requirements

• Tertiary Qualifications in Mechanical Engineering
