As a teacher you are responsible for creating a learning environment where powerful learning is at the heart of the classroom - where students know how to learn and where personal effort, excellence and achievement are valued and celebrated.You will work collaboratively as part of our teaching team under the strategic leadership of the Director of Learning and Teaching with support and oversight provided by the Head of School and Technologies Coordinator, who oversee the implementation of a rich and invigorating learning experience for our students.Ongoing position available and both full-time and part-time applications will be considered.

Key Areas of Responsibility

These duties must be carried out in a manner that is God honouring and consistent with the school’s vision to provide a Christ-centred education in a learning community of Love, Nurture and Service.

Learning and Teaching

  • Teach from a biblically based Christian worldview.
  • Create and develop a learning environment that is exciting, engaging and flexible.
  • Empower learners to communicate, create and innovate in a globally connected world.
  • Equip your students to navigate, use and analyse technology and content from a Christian perspective.
  • Support and equip your students to set, monitor and achieve their personal goals as learners.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of how students learn and implement effective classroom teaching strategies to develop and build powerful learners.
  • Engage with and maintain administrative records for school based and external requirements.
  • Operate as part of a team with colleagues and school leadership to continually improve learning, teaching and student outcomes.
  • Safeguard and promote the wellbeing of students within a Biblical framework.
  • As a class/pastoral care group teacher, lead the promotion and development of wellbeing within your class and provide support and leadership of the general progress of your students.
  • Build rapport with individual students and their families and encourage the holistic growth of each student.
  • Employ effective strategies for managing student expectations and wellbeing as well as developing positive partnerships with School families.

Professional

  • Have an up-to-date knowledge of teachers' professional duties, standards and duty of care in a Christian school.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, critical analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Contribute to the corporate life of the School through effective participation in meetings and working groups.
  • Take responsibility for your own professional development and growth in relation to the School’s strategic priorities, policies and practices.
  • Operate at all times within the stated policies and practices of the School.

Contribute to a safe and healthy workplace by

  • Following Work Health and Safety instructions and policies.
  • Reporting accidents and hazards.
  • Generally caring for own safety and that of others, including visitors, students, parents and volunteers that may possibly be affected by actions or inaction.

Other duties

  • Participate in and support the faith community of the School through prayer and communal worship activities.
  • Model the faith and values of the School in interactions with colleagues, students, parents and the wider community.
  • Attend staff meetings on days when rostered to attend for work.
  • Attend the annual whole staff retreat.
  • Attend devotions on days and times when at work. All staff are welcome to voluntarily attend staff devotions outside of their allocated work times.
  • Participate in school activities requiring staff participation.
  • Other duties as required.

Experience, Knowledge and Attributes

  • A personal acceptance of the Lordship of Christ and regular attendance at a Christian church (a church holding a doctrinal position compatible with the Doctrinal Basis of the School).
  • A sharp, research-informed progressive vision of learning and teaching and the capacity to create a rich and invigorating learning environment in a Christian learning community of excellence.
  • A gifted, dynamic teacher with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the development and educational needs of students and apassion for encouraging them in faith in Jesus Christ.
  • Excellent academic qualifications and subject knowledge.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills and a willingness to relate with compassion, humility, grace, strength and integrity to students, families and staff.
