Job summary

Milliman in Sydney CBD invites an Intern to support investment ideas analysis, data cleansing and automation. You will work with portfolio managers and consultants to gain hands-on experience in derivatives overlays and asset allocation.

The role offers exposure to actuarial and risk management tasks, with 3–5 day work weeks and potential for full-time or part-time arrangements. Suitable for final-year students seeking practical experience.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled and in the final year of a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in actuarial, financial mathematics, statistics, engineering, or a related field
• Proficiency in Excel VBA. Knowledge of SQL, R, Python and other programming languages is a plus
• Self-motivated with curiosity and results-oriented work ethic
• Ability to analyse and solve problems both independently and in a team
• Excellent project management, communication and time management skills
• Strong analytical thinking, judgment and ability to articulate ideas clearly
• Collaborative mindset and willingness to work with others

Responsibilities

• Analyze investment ideas from derivatives hedging overlays and asset allocation perspectives
• Support day-to-day portfolio management operations
• Perform data cleansing on in-house data for accuracy
• Assist in developing and maintaining databases used by the portfolio management team
• Help automate processes for portfolio management and actuarial teams
• Analyze data and produce modelling outcomes using Milliman’s in-house tools
• Complete ad-hoc projects as assigned by portfolio management and actuarial teams
