Job summary

Bunnings is seeking a Department Manager in Australia to lead daily operations, sales and high-volume stock within a specialist area. You’ll oversee 20+ team members, train staff, drive service excellence and maintain Best Experience with a strong focus on safety and compliance.

You’ll report to senior management, coordinate with Merchandising and Health and Safety teams, and rotate across weekends. This role requires a hands-on leader able to manage rostering, stock, and customer satisfaction

Qualifications

• Lead and inspire a 20+ person team with a focus on safety and wellbeing.
• Experience leading teams in large, high-volume retail environments.
• Champion a safe and secure operating environment and ensure policy compliance.
• Confident in opening and closing the store and supporting weekend trade.
• Build team capability through clear expectations, performance conversations and recognition.
• Deliver on service promises through effective rostering and planning.
• Drive retail fundamentals: merchandising, sales, stock accuracy, availability and loss prevention.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of 20+ to maintain an engaged and safe work environment, while also performing duty manager responsibilities, including opening and closing the store across weekdays and weekends.
• Build team capability on Best Experience and Safety Culture & Compliance, including engagement, performance management and recognition.
• Rostering and strategic planning to deliver on service promises, driving department sales through merchandising and metrics.
• Act on customer feedback to improve the end-to-end experience.
• Own department stock accuracy, including adjustments, replenishment discipline and loss prevention.
