Qualifications

• Willingness to enrol in and complete Certificate III/IV in Dental Assisting.
• Commitment to culturally safe care and Aboriginal community health.
• Adherence to immunisation and working with children checks where required.

Responsibilities

• Support dentists and oral health clinicians during treatments.
• Prepare dental rooms, instruments, and equipment; assist with setup.
• Follow sterilisation, infection control, and WHS procedures.
• Assist with patient flow, bookings, recalls and communication.
• Maintain patient records and assist with administrative tasks.
• Participate in outreach and community oral health activities.
• Provide culturally safe, respectful care to Aboriginal clients.

Job description

Pius X Aboriginal Corporation is seeking a motivated and community minded Dental Assistant Trainee to join our busy Dental Clinic. As a trainee, you will receive hands on clinical experience, structured supervision, and formal training toward a Certificate III or IV in Dental Assisting—all while contributing to culturally safe, high quality care for our community.

Key responsibilities

• Support dentists and oral health clinicians during treatments
• Prepare dental surgery rooms, instruments, and equipment
• Follow sterilisation, infection control, and WHS procedures
• Assist with patient flow, bookings, recalls, and client communication
• Maintain accurate patient records and support administrative tasks
• Participate in outreach, school dental programs, and community oral health activities
• Provide culturally safe, respectful care to Aboriginal clients and families
