Job summary

Amazon in Australia is seeking a Defence Solutions Architecture leader to head our Defence Solutions Architecture team, partnering with senior AWS architects and Defence customers to design secure cloud-based systems. This role focuses on credibility across the Defence community, building trust with senior leaders, and translating mission needs into compliant cloud solutions.

You will lead by example, mentor your team, and guide engagements while contributing directly to critical customer work

Qualifications

• Experience managing a technical team of solution architects or similar
• Experience building and operating a cloud-based architecture
• Familiarity with the Australian Defence Organisation and Defence Industrial Base
• Working knowledge of Australian Government security policy, including the Essential Eight and IRAP

Responsibilities

• Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team of senior solutions architects
• Set the strategic direction for the Defence-focused solutions architecture team
• Lead as a player-coach and contribute directly to customer engagements when needed
• Establish trust-based relationships with senior Defence stakeholders
• Translate mission requirements into secure, compliant cloud designs (essential eight and IRAP)
• Collaborate with account, service, and security teams to remove blockers and align priorities
• Create processes to enable autonomous delivery and continuous improvement
