Job summary

Staffpower is seeking an experienced Technical Supervisor to lead and support a skilled maintenance team in a Defence maintenance environment. You will oversee maintenance activities, provide technical guidance to tradespeople and ensure work meets quality, safety and operational standards.

This hands-on leadership role combines supervision, technical problem-solving and operational coordination to improve productivity and workshop performance.

Qualifications

• A relevant trade qualification, Certificate IV or equivalent experience acceptable under contract requirements.
• Demonstrated experience supervising tradespeople or leading maintenance teams.
• Strong mechanical, technical or industrial maintenance knowledge.
• Experience conducting technical inspections, quality checks and fault investigations.
• Confidence using maintenance management systems, with SAP or MILIS experience highly regarded.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to motivate, coach and develop employees.
• A sound understanding of workplace health and safety, quality and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Supervising and coordinating daily maintenance and workshop activities.
• Allocating work to suitably qualified and competent tradespeople.
• Providing technical guidance, troubleshooting support and direction to maintenance teams.
• Monitoring work quality and ensuring maintenance tasks meet required standards.
• Conducting technical inspections and identifying additional quality checks where required.
• Ensuring accurate completion of work orders and maintenance documentation.
• Monitoring outstanding maintenance activities and addressing overdue work orders.
• Investigating equipment defects and identifying appropriate corrective actions.
• Coaching, mentoring and developing tradespeople to improve performance and capability.
• Maintaining compliance with workplace health, safety and quality requirements.
• Working collaboratively with management and planning teams to improve operational efficiency.
• Identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
