Job summary

Tassal Group is seeking a hands-on Deckhand to support our Marine Services and Logistics teams across Tasmanian sites. This role offers a fixed 7/7 roster with a full week off, based in Margate, near Hobart, and involves working on vessels and leases to keep sites running safely and reliably.

You’ll be part of a dedicated team, performing physical work, operating deck gear, and maintaining equipment with a strong safety-first mindset. A current driver’s licence and transport are required.

Looking for hands‑on marine work with a steady roster, a strong team, and time back at home? Join Tassal as a Deckhand and help support the day‑to‑day operations that keep our marine sites running safely and reliably.

About the role:

As a Deckhand, you’ll work as part of our Marine Services and Logistics team to support operational requirements across our vessels, leases and marine farming sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support daily vessel and site operations.
  • Install and remove nets, anchors and moorings.
  • Load, unload and move operational supplies.
  • Operate deck equipment safely and confidently.
  • Maintain vessels, equipment and lease areas.
About you:

You’ll be a practical, reliable and safety‑focused person who enjoys physical work, working outdoors and being part of a team that gets the job done.

  • Previous deckhand or marine experience.
  • Physically fit and ready for hands‑on work.
  • A strong safety‑first mindset.
  • Common sense and a can‑do attitude.
  • Current driver’s licence and reliable transport.
It Would Be Great If You Also Have
  • Master V or similar marine qualification.
  • Commercial fishing or aquaculture experience.
  • Confidence working around winches, cranes and capstans.
  • A willingness to learn and adapt.
  • A team‑first approach to getting results safely.
