Job summary

Leaseweb in Sydney seeks an experienced Data Center Operations Engineer to install, relocate and maintain server hardware in our data centers. You will own customer projects, lead relocation efforts and support complex installations, while training junior engineers and assisting clients with their equipment.

The role requires strong Linux knowledge, hands-on hardware expertise, and networking skills. You’ll collaborate with APAC partners to ensure smooth deployments and compliance with standards.

Qualifications

• Multiple years of hands-on experience in a data center with servers.
• Strong knowledge of Linux and other operating systems.
• Solid hardware expertise including servers, switches, KVM, and storage.
• Networking knowledge including DNS, IP addressing, and subnetting.
• A CS-related degree or certificate is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install, relocate, and remove server equipment at the data center.
• Take ownership of customer projects and lead relocation and complex installations.
• Provide on-the-job training for Data Center Operations Engineers.
• Assist customers within data centers for their own racks/servers.
• Analyse data and advise the local team manager on process improvements.
• Upgrade/downgrade server equipment (memory, drives, etc.).
• Replace hardware and handle all relevant administrative tasks.
• Test servers and equipment according to standards.
• Collaborate with APAC remote hands partners to support installations.

Data Center Operations Engineer

Key responsibilities:

• Installation, relocation, and removal of server equipment at the data center

• Taking ownership and giving lead to customer projects, relocation projects and complex installations.

• On the Job training of Data Center Operations Engineers

• The assistance of customers within data centers (for customers with their own racks/servers)

• Is capable of analysing data and advising the local team manager on improvements to be made to the department local processes

• Upgrade/downgrade of server equipment (memory/hard disks/etc.)

• Replacement of hardware and handling of all relevant administrative matters.

• Testing servers and server equipment in accordance with standards

• Work with remote hands partners within the APAC region to support installation and/or adjustment of servers.

Requirements:

• At least multiple years ofhands-onexperience working in a data center with servers

• Strong Knowledge of various operating systems, especially Linux

• Strong Knowledge of Hardware (Servers, Switches, KVM, Hard Drives, Memory etc.)

• Network knowledge (adjusting DNS/IP/Netmask/gateway/etc.)

• Certificate or degree in Computer Science or similar discipline preferably with an emphasis in Technology.

• It would be a plus if you have (basic) knowledge of SAP
