Job summary

Accenture Ballarat is seeking an experienced Database Administrator with strong PostgreSQL and Linux expertise to join our Infrastructure Managed Services team. You will ensure PostgreSQL environments remain reliable, secure, and optimised across cross-platform workloads.

You will handle backup, recovery, performance tuning, and high availability, while collaborating with application and infrastructure teams to deliver robust database solutions in a hybrid Ballarat setup.

Qualifications

• Approximately five to ten years of database administration experience.
• Strong hands-on PostgreSQL administration experience, including replication, vacuuming, query optimisation and extension management.
• Solid Linux administration capability across RHEL, CentOS or Ubuntu, including shell scripting and performance tuning.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server administration, including Always On, backups and SQL Server Agent jobs.
• Experience with PostgreSQL high-availability technologies such as Patroni, repmgr or pgPool.
• Strong SQL query-writing skills and experience analysing performance using EXPLAIN plans.
• Experience with PostgreSQL backup tools such as pgBackRest, pg_dump or Barman.
• Familiarity with infrastructure monitoring and database alerting tools.
• Experience working within an ITIL-based service management environment.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and stakeholder communication skills.
• Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement based in Ballarat.

Responsibilities

• Support Microsoft SQL Server environments across instance administration, patching and backup management.
• Contribute to database migration and consolidation projects.
• Maintain database documentation, configuration records, schemas and operational runbooks.
• Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams on database design and integration requirements.
• Contribute to disaster-recovery planning and testing.

The opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Database Administrator with strong PostgreSQL and Linux expertise to join our Infrastructure Managed Services team.
