Job summary

Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) in Melbourne’s East precinct seeks a Database Administrator to deliver robust database services for VCE, VET, VPC and NAPLAN.

The role supports bespoke applications, requires Oracle and SQL Server expertise on Windows, and includes on-call duties during peak periods. Fixed-term to 1 March 2027 with full-time hours and flexible work conditions.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in database administration of Oracle and SQL Server databases on a Windows platform.
• Experience in writing SQL programs to perform database administration, data manipulation and reporting tasks.
• Desirable: Embedded SQL in other languages (e.g., ASP.NET, Uniface, ColdFusion) and diagnosing performance issues.

Responsibilities

• Provide database administration services for VCAA applications.
• Support bespoke applications used to deliver VCE, VET, VPC and NAPLAN.
• Offer on-call support during critical processing periods (mid-September to mid-December).
