Job summary

Medibank in Melbourne is seeking a Data Science Analyst to join the Strategy & Analytics team. This is a 12-month fixed-term opportunity to uncover customer insights, build predictive models and deliver data-driven solutions that improve customer and commercial outcomes.

Reporting to the Senior AI Initiatives Manager, you will apply advanced analytics, machine learning and experimentation using cloud tech (AWS SageMaker, EC2, S3, Bedrock) and Python to solve business challenges.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative field (Data Science, CS, Stats, Math, Eng).
• 2–3+ years in data science or analytics roles.
• Strong Python skills for predictive modeling.
• Experience applying data-driven insights to business outcomes.
• Experience in cloud analytics environments, preferably AWS.
• Ability to communicate technical findings to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop predictive models to support retention, acquisition, cross-sell and engagement initiatives.
• Analyse customer behaviour and product performance to identify actionable insights.
• Design and execute experiments to test and optimise customer and business outcomes.
• Build, optimise and deploy machine learning and statistical models using Python.
• Leverage AWS services including SageMaker, EC2, S3 and Bedrock to run scalable analytics and experimentation workloads.
• Optimise model performance through efficient coding, automation and cloud-based processing techniques.
• Translate complex analytical findings into clear recommendations for business stakeholders.
• Partner with teams across Marketing, Product, Portfolio, Customer Experience and Strategy to drive data-informed decision making.
• Support the exploration of new data sources, AI capabilities and advanced analytics techniques.

What You'll Be Doing

About You

You'll be naturally curious, commercially minded and passionate about using data to solve real-world problems. You'll enjoy collaborating with stakeholders and turning complex analysis into meaningful outcomes.

You'll bring:

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or a related quantitative discipline.
• 2-3+ years' experience in a Data Science, Advanced Analytics or similar role.
• Strong hands-on experience building predictive and statistical models using Python.
• Experience applying data-driven insights to support commercial and business outcomes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience working with large and complex datasets.
• The ability to communicate technical concepts and insights to a broad range of stakeholders.
• Experience working within cloud-based analytics environments, ideally AWS.
• Exposure to machine learning, experimentation and AI-driven analytics.
