Job summary

The Royal Women’s Hospital in Melbourne is seeking a Data Governance and Privacy Lead to strengthen how the organisation manages, protects and uses its data. You will lead the Data Governance Framework, set clear standards, and advise on privacy and information management across clinical and operational domains.

You’ll work with clinical, operational, research and technical teams to embed governance practices, improve data quality and treat data as a trusted asset throughout the enterprise.

Qualifications

• Experience in data governance, information governance, privacy or information management in healthcare or regulated settings.
• Experience developing data governance frameworks, policies, standards and operating models.
• Strong knowledge of privacy, health information and data management legislation and practical application.
• Experience establishing data ownership, stewardship, accountability and data quality processes.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills with clinical, corporate and technical teams.
• Experience managing competing priorities and organisational change to deliver governance improvements.
• Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in data management, information systems or governance.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and implementation of data governance frameworks, policies, standards and processes.
• Define data ownership, stewardship and accountability with clinical and corporate teams.
• Advise on privacy, information management and data sharing, including Privacy Impact Assessments.
• Improve data quality by defining definitions, data elements and governance processes.
• Collaborate with data engineering, analytics and technical teams to embed governance in systems.
• Raise organisational awareness through stakeholder engagement and practical guidance.
