Job summary

Talent Web Recruitment in Sydney is seeking an experienced Data Governance Analyst to support a data transformation within a large organisation. You will help mature governance practices, establish ownership, and ensure data is managed securely and effectively.

You will work across business and technology teams to implement frameworks, policies and KPIs, driving data quality and a data-driven culture.

This role offers hybrid working and a 6-month day-rate contract with a lucrative rate.

The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Data Governance Analyst to join a large, complex organisation undergoing an exciting period of data transformation.

This is a key role within a growing data function, responsible for helping establish and mature data governance practices across the organisation. You will work across business and technology teams to improve data quality, establish clear ownership and accountability, and ensure data is managed consistently, securely and effectively.

What You'll Be Doing

• Contribute to the development and implementation of the organisation's data governance strategy.
• Develop and maintain data governance frameworks, policies, standards and processes.
• Establish and support data ownership and stewardship models across the organisation.
• Lead initiatives focused on improving data quality, accuracy, consistency and integrity.
• Define data validation rules, quality measures and governance KPIs.
• Identify and help mitigate data-related risks across the organisation.
• Work closely with privacy, risk, compliance, security and technology teams on data governance matters.
• Act as a key link between business stakeholders and technology teams on data-related initiatives.
• Facilitate data governance forums, working groups and stakeholder discussions.
• Support the development of a stronger data-driven culture through communication, education and awareness.
• Oversee metadata management, data lineage and traceability practices.
• Support Master Data Management initiatives and the establishment of trusted sources of data.
• Evaluate and support the implementation of data governance tools and platforms.
• Work with technology and architecture teams to embed governance into data platforms and systems.
• Develop reporting and insights on data governance maturity, performance and progress.

About You

About You You will be an experienced data professional with a strong understanding of data governance, data quality and enterprise data management.

You’ll ideally bring:

• Proven experience working in a Data Governance, Data Management, Data Quality or similar role.
• Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, policies, standards and operating models.
• Experience establishing or working with data ownership and stewardship models.
• Strong understanding of data quality principles, metrics and remediation.
• Experience working with metadata, data lineage and/or Master Data Management.
• The ability to work effectively across both business and technology teams.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to engage with senior stakeholders.
• Experience operating within a complex, highly regulated or data-rich environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• A pragmatic approach to governance — someone who can establish structure without creating unnecessary complexity.
