Job summary

Morgan McKinley is seeking a hands-on Data Engineer to own the data journey from raw sources to trusted, business-ready reporting. Design the warehouse model, build pipelines, and deliver Power BI reports used across the business. The role blends BAU and project delivery with shifting priorities.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years in data engineering or analytics, strong SQL, and experience with Power BI, dbt, and dimensional modeling in a financial services context is a bonus.

Qualifications

• Experience building data models and pipelines for reporting.
• Hands-on Power BI development including Power Query and DAX.
• Strong SQL skills and understanding of data warehousing fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Design and build dimensional models (facts, dimensions, star schemas, SCDs) for easy reporting.
• Build and maintain source-to-target pipelines using dbt and SQL.
• Develop Power BI reports from scratch, including transformations, measures, and semantic models.
• Capture stakeholder needs and translate them into technical specifications.
• Implement data validation, reconciliation and quality controls for trusted reporting.
• Tune SQL and models for performance.
