Data Solution Engineer

About the role:

The Solution Engineer is responsible for end-to-end solution design, focusing on data extraction, transformation, and creating reusable data assets for clients. The role involves developing, testing, and supporting data solutions across various industries, with expertise in data architectures, big data platforms, cloud environments, and data governance. The engineer will lead or collaborate on projects, develop Proof of Concepts, mentor junior consultants, and manage complex data processes. With strong experience in big data, cloud data lakes, and advanced data transformation, this position requires technical leadership, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in high-paced environments.

Mandatory Requirements:

• Develop & Support Data Solutions: Design, test, and support future-ready data solutions across diverse industries.
• End-to-End Data Pipelines: Build and optimize batch and near real-time data flows and pipelines.
• Expertise in Data Architecture: Demonstrate deep knowledge of big data, cloud platforms, data lakes, ML/AI, and analytics.
• Data Integration & Transformation: Master data integration, ingestion, transformation techniques, and consumption patterns.
• Proof of Concepts & Demos: Lead the development and presentation of Proof of Concepts and working demos.
• Collaborate & Mentor: Lead internal and external teams, facilitating workshops and mentoring junior consultants.

Required Professional and Technical Expertise:

• Big Data & Cloud Expertise: Proven experience in big data platform delivery and cloud-based data lake environments.
• End-to-End Solution Leadership: Lead full solution development, providing technical leadership and troubleshooting in complex client settings.
• Financial Services Experience: 3+ years in large, complex financial organizations, preferably within banking.
• Data Process Engineering: 7+ years designing and engineering complex data solutions, with advanced transformation and data quality analysis experience.
• Solution Presentation: Skilled in presenting, justifying, and defending solution designs to senior stakeholders.
• Unix/Linux & Big Data Tech: Hands-on experience with Unix/Linux servers, Hadoop, Azure, Python, and Apache Spark.
• Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication for engaging presentations and clear reporting.
• Agile Team Player: Proven ability to manage time, collaborate effectively, and thrive in fast-paced, agile environments.
• Strong Work Ethic: Committed to going the extra mile in demanding environments to deliver exceptional results.

Desired Attributes and Skills:

• Data Mesh Expertise: Understanding of Data Mesh Architecture and Domain Data Products.
• Data Modelling: Experience in ERM, Third-Normal Form, and Dimensional Data Modelling.
• Atlassian Toolset: Proficient in JIRA, Confluence, and BitBucket.
• Educational Background: Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent field.

What's on offer?

This contract is expected to run for 2-3 years. The initial term is 6 months. Located in Sydney, this role offers a hybrid working arrangement.
