Job summary

Horizon Digital, a Perth-based AI and software consultancy, is seeking a Data Engineer for contract and permanent opportunities in Perth. You’ll build and optimize data pipelines, model data for BI and AI use, and work with mining, energy and industrial clients to enable self-serve analytics.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years in data engineering, strong SQL/Python, and hands-on experience with Databricks or major data services.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of hands-on data engineering experience.
• Strong SQL and Python (or PySpark).
• Experience with at least one of Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Fabric or AWS data services.
• A practical, friendly way of working with non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Build and support data pipelines, ingestion and transformations on modern cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Databricks or Microsoft Fabric).
• Work with operational data such as equipment telemetry, IoT and time series, and with data from ERP and other enterprise systems.
• Design data models and semantic layers that power Power BI dashboards and executive reporting.
• Prepare clean, well governed data for machine learning and AI solutions.
• Help set standards for data quality, governance and cost monitoring.
• Work closely with architects, analysts and business teams, and help people self serve.

We're seeing strong demand for data engineers across our clients and are building our network ahead of upcoming opportunities. Roles will vary, but this is the kind of work you'd be doing:

What you'll do

• Build and support data pipelines, ingestion and transformations on modern cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Databricks or Microsoft Fabric)
