A prominent recruitment agency is seeking a Data Architect to design and manage the overall data architecture in South Australia. This role requires at least 5 years of experience in data architecture and substantial knowledge of cloud platforms, especially Azure. Job description

The Data Architect is responsible for the overall design, development, and management of the data architecture and strategy. This role ensures the data ecosystem is scalable, secure, and aligned with business objectives. The Data Architect will be the key technical leader in designing how data is collected, stored, and utilized, setting the standards and governance policies that guide the Data Engineer and Data Analyst in their day-to-day work.

This is a 6-month contract opportunity based in the Adelaide CBD and is open to interstate candidates.

What you will do

• Design and maintain the enterprise data architecture, including data models, data warehouses, lakes, and pipelines.
• Develop and manage a comprehensive data roadmap aligned with company strategies.
• Establish and oversee data governance policies to ensure data quality, security, and integrity.
• Evaluate and recommend new data technologies, tools, and platforms to enhance data management and analytics.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to data team members, ensuring best practices.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their data needs and translate them into effective solutions.
• Oversee the deployment of new data technologies and ensure solutions comply with regulatory standards.
• Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Promote a data-driven culture across the organisation.

To be successful in this role you should have:

• At least 5 years in a Data Architect position backed by a number of years of experience in data engineering, data warehousing, or similar.
• Demonstrable extensive experience in designing and implementing enterprise data architectures.
• Proven experience designing and implementing end-to-end data solutions on a major cloud platform, preferably Microsoft Azure.
• Expert-level knowledge of database technologies, data modelling, and ETL/ELT principles.
• Strong knowledge of data modelling, data governance, and security standards.
• Proven ability to lead technical teams and guide data-related projects.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of translating technical information for diverse audiences.
• Experience working with data tools such as Power BI or similar reporting platforms.
• Demonstrated capability to manage multiple stakeholders and projects simultaneously.

Even better if you have:

• Professional certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or equivalent.
• Experience working in the mining or a similar industrial sector.
• Experience with Big Data technologies (e.g., Databricks, Spark).
