Job summary

Whizdom in Canberra is seeking a technically strong data engineering lead to drive delivery teams from analysis to delivery. You will shape data delivery frameworks, lead design reviews, and establish release standards while mentoring teams in best practices.

The role requires expertise in SQL, Python or R, and experience in data modelling within an Agile environment. This will be a 12-month contract with potential extensions, based in Canberra.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in mathematics, statistics, computer sciences or related field.
• Strong expertise in SQL and experience with Python or R.
• Experience in data modelling and end-to-end data delivery.

About the Company

Our client is an independent statutory authority that runs and manages financial support for reasonable and necessary disability-related goods, services, and equipment.

About the role

Provide technical leadership to the project delivery teams through design reviews, advising on implementation best practices, defining and refining release process and technical workshops.

Role Responsibilities

• Review and refine the data delivery framework to enhance integration of new sources, performance of existing data delivery and rapid development of new subject areas.
• Set peer review and data modelling release standards.
• Provide knowledge transfer sessions on best practices on development, data modelling, release process etc.
• Own the technical implementation of new data from analysis to delivery.

Desirable criteria

• Tertiary qualifications in mathematics, statistical, computer sciences discipline or more than 8 years of relevant work experience and experience working in an Agile environment.
• Strong expertise in SQL and experience with contemporary analytics coding languages (e.g. Python, R).
• Experience reverse engineering end user SQL code and interpreting data models and specifications.
