Job summary

IAG is seeking a Specialist Data Analytics Engineer to join the Customer & Employee Data team in Sydney. This role blends data engineering with analytics to transform complex customer data into actionable business outcomes, working with cloud-native tech and AI-driven practices.

You will design data pipelines, lead data products, ensure data quality and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver trusted insights.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in Data Engineering with large-scale enterprise data platforms.
• Strong expertise in SQL, Python, DBT, Airflow and modern data engineering practices.
• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) including BigQuery and related services.
• Deep understanding of data modelling, ETL, governance and security principles.
• Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, Docker/Kubernetes and IaC tools like Terraform.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and ability to translate complex concepts into business outcomes.
• Exposure to AI-assisted development and modern data innovation practices is valued.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and optimise complex data pipelines using SQL, DBT and cloud-native tech.
• Lead development of scalable data products supporting multiple business domains.
• Conduct code reviews and ensure engineering standards and best practices.
• Build and maintain APIs for data integration and accessibility across platforms.
• Drive automation and AI-assisted development to improve data solutions.
• Analyse customer and employee data to identify trends and opportunities.
• Mentor team members and provide technical leadership across design and delivery.
• Monitor data product performance, observability and quality to improve outcomes.
