Job summary

Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Oceania (MSIG) invites applications for a Data Analyst on a 12-month fixed-term contract. Reporting to the Business Analytics Manager, you will support Underwriting and Distribution with accurate data, insightful analysis, and robust reporting.

You will join the Data Analytics and Processing team focusing on data integrity, dashboards, and data pipeline improvements with an emphasis on reliability and business impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, statistics, or mathematics.
• At least 2 years' experience in data cleansing, validation and analysis.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, SQL and Power BI; dashboard building.

Responsibilities

• Data management and accurate data entry for underwriting and MGA portfolios across Australia and New Zealand.
• Prepare and deliver reports for internal stakeholders and distribution partners; provide data interpretation of risk measures.
• Drive process improvements and technology adoption to streamline reporting and improve accuracy.

The Role:

Join our Data Analytics and Processing team as a Data Analyst on a 12-month fixed-term contract (with potential for extension). Reporting to the Business Analytics Manager, you'll play a key role in supporting our Underwriting and Distribution teams by ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and insightful analysis.

What You'll do:

Data Management

• Perform accurate and timely data entry for underwriting, including managing agency businesses (MGA) across Australia and New Zealand.
• Maintain and validate underwriting data and distribution partner portfolios (MGAs).
• Ensure data integrity across systems and databases.

Reporting and Analysis

• Prepare and deliver reports for internal stakeholders and distribution partners.
• Provide in-depth analysis and interpretation of data and risk measures.

Process Improvement

• Drive technology adoption to streamline processes and reporting.
• Identify opportunities for efficiency and accuracy improvements.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Statistics, or Mathematics, or related field.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in data cleansing, validation and analysis —insurance industry experience strongly preferred.
• In-depth working experience in MS Excel, SQL, Power BI, including building dashboards for business stakeholders.
• Hands-on experience with data modelling and building data pipelines is highly desirable.
• Practical application skills using Copilot to streamline data modelling, improve pipeline reliability, and accelerate insight generation.
• Strong attention to detail with accuracy and efficiency.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and time management skills.
• Must hold a valid work visa or permanent residency to work in Australia.
