Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Data Analyst to join the Decision Support team.

Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north.

Services are provided through our six main campuses:

Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals Centres and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.

About the Role:

The Data Analyst role will work closely with Manager of Analytics and Reporting, focusing on coordinating and implementing reporting, analytical and data related projects directly supporting the Division of Virtual Health.

The role requires an understanding of health information, with a heavy focus on querying, analysing and clearly presenting data to stakeholders across the organisation, an understanding of clinical systems, funding and health information management principles is highly desirable. The role demands a high level of computer literacy, specifically the ability to work with large volumes of data with complex definitions.

This role is responsible for but not limited to:

• Supporting project related data requests
• Assisting with the development and administration of reporting solutions through the reporting portal, dashboard environments and published report
• Assisting with promoting awareness of data quality throughout the organisation by providing education and training to all staff and conducting regular data integrity audits.
• Interpreting large volumes of data, give recommendations and effectively present results.
• Providing data support as required by the organisation and ensure process, systems and policies support the accurate collection of data in the most efficient manner.

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Tertiary qualifications in Business, Information Technology, Health Information Management or related discipline
• Intermediate level SQL and relational database knowledge
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience using PowerBI
• Highly developed self-management skills including the ability to meet timelines and prioritise competing demands
• Proven ability to interpret and analyse information, data and evidence to inform decision making and planning
• An understanding of data governance, security, and privacy principles.
• Minimum 18-month experience in equivalent role
