Job summary

ChildFund Australia is seeking a Data Insights Specialist to turn supporter and program data into trusted information that teams rely on to raise funds, understand performance and drive decisions. You will own recurring reporting, data quality, and reconciliation processes while delivering dashboards in Power BI.

You will gather requirements from non-technical stakeholders, write clear data products and documentation, and work with cross-functional teams to maintain secure, well-documented data

Job description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
You will turn ChildFund Australia’s supporter and program data into trusted information that teams rely on to raise funds, understand performance and make informed decisions.Working in the Data Insights team, you will also deliver recurring reporting and campaign data, while owning key data quality, validation and reconciliation processes.

KEY DUTIES

Reporting and campaign data

• Delivery, validation and monitoring of recurring reporting
• Prepare campaign data selections and produce forecasts to support next-year planning
• Build, maintain and improve Power BI reports and dashboards and action change requests from teams
• Validate reporting outputs and investigate discrepancies before information is distributed to stakeholders.

Data quality and reconciliation

• Own repeatable data quality rules and reconciliation processes
• Investigate exceptions and work with data owners to resolve them
• Match and reconcile supporter records across systems and support data cleanup
• Identify data anomalies such as invalid or automated sign-ups

Working with teams

• Gather requirements directly with stakeholders and turn them into clear, well-scoped data products
• Explain data, trends and limitations in plain language so teams can make informed decisions
• Write user guides and technical documentation so what you build can be used, supported and handed over

Ways of working

• Keep all code, report logic and definitions in source control and documented, so no data product depends on one person's knowledge
• Handle supporter and personal information securely and in line with ChildFund's privacy obligations
• Manage your work with the team, raising risks and blockers early

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Strong SQL skills, including writing and debugging multi-step transformation queries
  
• Experience building Power BI reports, including data modelling and DAX
• Demonstrated accuracy: reconciling figures, validating outputs and tracing discrepancies back to source
• Experience gathering requirements from non-technical stakeholders and delivering against them
• Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent practical experience

DESIRABLE

• Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Spark or another lakehouse platform
• Experience working with Salesforce data (objects, relationships, reporting)
• Experience using Git or another version control system
• Experience with not-for-profit fundraising data
• Experience with international development program or MEL data
