Job summary

Peoplebank is seeking a skilled Cybersecurity Operations / SOC Engineer for a 12-month contract in Sydney. The role focuses on strengthening identity, infrastructure, networks, and cloud security with emphasis on vulnerability management, SIEM engineering, threat detection and MDR services.

You will lead security enhancements including Zero Trust, IAM governance, and secure remote access while coordinating with stakeholders and leveraging recognised security frameworks.

Qualifications

• 5-8+ years in Cybersecurity Operations / SOC roles.
• Experience with SIEM, MDR and vulnerability management.
• IAM, PAM, Zero Trust and secure access controls awareness.
• Azure Security and/or AWS Hybrid experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage SOC operations including SIEM engineering, threat detection and MDR services.
• Lead vulnerability management and network segmentation initiatives to strengthen security controls.
• Design and implement IAM controls, MFA, SSO and privileged access management.
• Administer identity platforms and apply Zero Trust principles across environments.
• Drive security hardening initiatives across cloud, infrastructure, endpoints, and networks.
• Establish network security controls including segmentation and firewall policy management.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to remediate risks and maintain security standards.

Cybersecurity Operations / SOC Engineer – Large Scale Organisation

Sydney based with hybrid work flexibility (2-3 days onsite and 2 days WFH)

We are seeking a skilled Cybersecurity Operations / SOC Engineer to play a pivotal role in strengthening enterprise security capabilities across identity, infrastructure, networks, and cloud environments, with a strong focus on vulnerability management, SIEM engineering, threat detection, network segmentation, and Managed Detection and Response (MDR). This is an opportunity to lead high-impact security initiatives, enhance security monitoring and incident response capabilities, drive Zero Trust and IAM excellence, and strengthen the organisation’s overall cyber resilience within a complex enterprise environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Managed cybersecurity operations and SOC activities, including SIEM engineering, threat detection, and MDR services to identify, investigate, and respond to security threats and incidents
• Led vulnerability management and network segmentation initiatives to strengthen security controls, reduce risk, and improve the organisation’s overall cybersecurity posture.
• Design, implement, and enhance identity and access management (IAM) security controls, including MFA, SSO, privileged access management, identity governance, role-based access controls, and privileged identity protection.
• Administer and support enterprise identity platforms, implementing secure access solutions and Zero Trust principles such as least privilege, continuous verification, and identity-centric security controls.
• Develop and execute cyber security hardening initiatives across cloud, infrastructure, endpoint, and network environments, identifying and remediating vulnerabilities, security misconfigurations, and excessive user privileges.
• Design, implement, and maintain network security controls, including segmentation, firewall policies, access controls, and secure architecture practices to protect critical systems and sensitive workloads.
• Collaborate with technology and business stakeholders to remediate security risks, support vulnerability management and incident response activities, develop security standards and documentation, and ensure alignment with recognised security frameworks and industry best practices.

• Ideally with Azure Security experience or AWS Hybrid

• Knowledgeable of Security Frameworks & Standards
• Education, Public Sector or enterprise project experience is preferred
