Job summary

Anglicare Sydney is seeking a Cyber Threat Hunter to protect the technology environment that supports thousands of staff, residents and clients across our aged care, community and family services. You will proactively hunt threats, investigate activity and improve detection capacity.

Working with Security, IT Operations, Architecture and Risk teams, you will analyse attacker techniques, tune monitoring and communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Experience in cyber security operations, threat hunting, incident response or related cyber defence roles.
• Knowledge of attacker TTPs and MITRE ATT&CK.
• Hands-on experience with security monitoring, SIEM/EDR and cloud security.
• Strong analytical and investigative capabilities with data correlation.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, PowerShell or similar for analysis/automation.

Responsibilities

• Proactively hunt for threats and investigate suspicious activity.
• Identify adversary behaviour and attack techniques before they impact the organisation.
• Strengthen cyber resilience through detection improvement and threat intel.

As our Cyber Threat Hunter, you'll help protect the technology environment that supports thousands of employees, residents and clients across our aged care, community and family services. Working within our Cyber Security and IT Risk team, you'll proactively search for hidden threats, investigate suspicious activity and identify emerging attack techniques before they impact the organisation.

You will play a key role in strengthening Anglicare's cyber resilience through proactive threat hunting, investigation and detection improvement activities. You'll work closely with Cyber Security, IT Operations, Architecture and Risk teams to identify adversary behaviour, reduce attacker dwell time and continuously enhance our security monitoring and response capabilities.

What you'll bring

You're an experienced cyber security professional with a passion for proactive defence and a strong understanding of attacker behaviours, threat detection and incident investigation. You enjoy solving complex problems, analysing large datasets and identifying risks before they become incidents.

You will also need:

• Experience in cyber security operations, threat hunting, incident response, security monitoring or a related cyber defence role.
• Strong knowledge of attacker tactics, techniques and procedures and frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK.
• Hands‑on experience with SIEM, EDR, identity protection, email security, cloud security and threat intelligence platforms.
• Strong analytical and investigative capabilities with the ability to identify abnormal behaviour and correlate complex datasets.
• Experience using KQL, SQL, Python, PowerShell or similar technologies to support analysis and automation.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• A tertiary qualification in Cyber Security, Information Security, Computer Science, IT or a related discipline.

Highly desirable

• Industry certifications such as GIAC, GCIA, GCIH, GCTI, CySA+, SC-200, CISSP, CISM or MITRE ATT&CK Defender.
• Experience working within complex enterprise environments.
• Experience supporting threat hunting, digital forensics or security operations functions.
