Job summary

Telstra is seeking a Business Information Security Advisor (BISA) to embed security across business and technology decisions in Australia. You will lead remediation efforts, drive risk reduction, and translate incident learnings into sustainable improvements across large, complex programs.

The role requires strategic thinking, strong influencing and communication skills, and the ability to engage executives.

Responsibilities

• Drive remediation of significant security risks, control weaknesses and incident findings with clear ownership and timely resolution.
• Partner with Security Operations and Cyber Defence teams to translate learnings into practical improvements that reduce recurrence.
• Identify recurring security issues, systemic gaps, and risk patterns; develop prevention and uplift initiatives.
• Facilitate collaboration between business, engineering and security teams to accelerate remediation and risk reduction.
• Provide visibility of outstanding issues, remediation progress and risk decisions to executives and security leadership.
• Champion continuous security improvement by converting reviews, incidents and audit outcomes into actionable plans.
• Prioritise security debt and legacy risks to improve long-term security posture.
• Gather stakeholder feedback on technology, processes and interactions to improve security posture.
