Job summary

Western Sydney University is seeking a Cyber Security Engineering Manager to lead the uplift of cyber security engineering across its hybrid cloud and on‑prem environments. You will oversee the design, build, automation, and operation of enterprise security controls, embedding secure-by-design principles to reduce risk and improve resilience.

You will drive the maturation of IAM/PAM, EDR/XDR, SIEM/SOAR, WAF/CDN, DLP/CASB and related platforms, aligning with MITRE ATT&CK and policy-as-code.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in cyber security engineering and platform operations.
• Designing, automating, and operating enterprise controls such as SIEM, SOAR, IAM.
• Ability to lead high-performing engineering teams.
• Knowledge of NIST CSF 2.0, ISO/IEC 27001 and ISM.
• Proficiency with Python, PowerShell, and Terraform.

Responsibilities

• Lead uplift of cyber security engineering across Western's platforms.
• Oversee design, build, integration, automation, and operation of security controls.
• Uplift IAM/PAM, EDR/XDR, SIEM/SOAR, WAF/CDN, DLP/CASB.
• Embed secure-by-design patterns and guardrails.
• Collaborate with SOC and Incident Response functions.
