Job summary

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience implementing and maintaining security controls across infrastructure, networks and platforms.
• Experience configuring and operating security tools such as endpoint protection, monitoring and access control systems.
• Working knowledge of Australian Government security frameworks including ISM, PSPF and Essential Eight.
• Experience with system hardening, patch management, secure configuration and vulnerability management.
• Strong identity and access management understanding and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Implement, configure and operate technical security controls across infrastructure, platforms and services.
• Manage security tooling, including endpoint protection, monitoring and defensive security controls.
• Support security event detection, analysis and incident response activities.
• Perform vulnerability management activities, including identification, prioritisation and remediation of security weaknesses.
• Ensure systems are hardened, patched and configured in line with defined security standards.
• Support secure design and build activities across networks, platforms and applications.
• Implement and maintain identity and access management controls.
• Support network segmentation and secure configuration standards.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders within a multi-vendor environment.
• Support compliance, assurance and audit activities through technical validation and evidence gathering.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen security posture and detection capabilities.

Job Description

An exciting opportunity exists for a Security Engineer to implement, configure and operate technical security controls across enterprise environments. This role is responsible for ensuring systems, platforms and services remain secure and compliant with organisational and regulatory requirements.

Working closely with engineering and operations teams, you will embed security into infrastructure, networks, applications and platforms while supporting security monitoring, vulnerability management, remediation activities and secure solution design. The position also plays a key role in strengthening security controls and supporting Essential Eight uplift initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Implement, configure and operate technical security controls across infrastructure, platforms and services.
• Manage security tooling, including endpoint protection, monitoring and defensive security controls.

Knowledge/Skills required

• Strong hands-on experience implementing and maintaining security controls across infrastructure, networks and platforms.
• Experience configuring and operating security tools such as endpoint protection, monitoring and access control systems.
• Working knowledge of Australian Government security frameworks including the Information Security Manual (ISM), Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and Essential Eight.
• Experience with system hardening, patch management, secure configuration and vulnerability management practices.
• Strong understanding of identity and access management principles.
• Ability to integrate security into engineering and operational processes.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills.
