Job summary

Thales Australia in Darwin seeks a Customer Service Officer / Inventory Coordinator to manage stock and support the Australian Defence Force on site at the Darwin RAAF base. You will operate the stock control system and provide excellent service as the first point of contact.

The role requires a positive attitude, keen attention to detail and the ability to handle changing tasks; training and support are provided to help you succeed in this defence logistics environment.

Qualifications

  • Relevant experience in a similar environment.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels.
  • Knowledge of inventory management systems would be desirable.
  • Experience within the Defence and/or Logistics environment would be highly advantageous.
  • Pre-employment police and medical checks may be required.
  • Australian citizenship and eligible for clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage inventory functions and operate the stock control system.
  • Provide great customer service to the Australian Defence Force (ADF).

OUR TEAM

Our Explosive Ordnance Services team enables the Australian Defence Force through storage, distribution, maintenance and disposal of these systems, all across Australia. As a turnkey solution, we offer the opportunity to gain a holistic understanding of our business operations, creating huge opportunities for growth.

Within our logistics services business there are 17+ depots throughout Australia, allowing various development and progression opportunities.

YOUR ROLE

This is an exciting opportunity for a Customer Service Officer / Inventory Coordinator to join our team at our Darwin RAAF site. You will be responsible for managing the inventory functions by operating our stock control computer system, whilst providing great customer service to our customer, the Australian Defence Force (ADF).

This role is exciting, challenging and rewarding; no two days will be the same! As the first point of contact for our customer, the ADF, you will need a positive attitude, be an active listener with excellent attention to detail and the ability to think on your feet. In turn, we will provide you with the training and support needed to succeed.

Based on the Darwin RAAF site, on Larrakia land, your role purpose will be :

  • Ensuring accurate operation of the electronic and manual inventory stock management system
  • Instruct and train staff as required and to ensure quality standards are maintained
  • Planning and controlling work activities, including resource allocation and time management
  • Maintain all Technical Publications relevant to the operation of the Inventory Office
  • Building & maintaining relationships with both internal and external clients
  • Demonstrating a personal commitment to all matters relating to health and safety
YOUR EXPERIENCE
  • Relevant experience in a similar environment
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels
  • Knowledge of inventory management systems would be desirable
  • Experience within the Defence and/or Logistics environment would be highly advantageous

Prior to being offered employment, you will need to complete pre-employment police and depending on the role type, medical checks as well.

A Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an appropriate clearance.

In some cases, individuals who hold a current clearance from a foreign government may be eligible to have this clearance recognised by the Australian Government and be eligible for this role.
