Job summary

Hazelhurst Arts Centre in Sydney is seeking a passionate Curatorial Assistant to support the delivery of exhibitions and public programs. Reporting to the Curator, Exhibitions and Programs, you will assist with research, publications, grants, installation, and archival tasks.

You will bring qualifications in Fine Arts/Visual Arts, gallery experience, knowledge of Australian art, and proficiency in MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Fine Arts or Visual Arts and/or extensive knowledge of Australian Art.
• Current Class C Driver's Licence.
• Experience working in a gallery, museum or arts organisation.
• Knowledge of Australian contemporary art and art history.
• Understanding of museum-standard art handling and condition reporting practices.
• Strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign and Photoshop).

Responsibilities

• Assist in the planning and delivery of exhibitions and related projects.
• Undertake research and support the preparation of publications, reports, grants and exhibition materials.
• Coordinate exhibition administration, including contracts, agreements and record keeping.
• Assist with exhibition installation and de-installation.
• Conduct artwork condition reporting and ensure best-practice art handling, storage and transport.
• Collaborate with internal teams to deliver high-quality exhibitions and public programs.
