Job summary

Southern Grampians Shire Council – Hamilton VIC is seeking a Curator to shape the gallery’s identity and enhance its reputation within the arts community. You will collaborate with the Director and Gallery Operations Manager to develop and roll out a dynamic exhibition program, curate high-quality displays and contribute to publications, labels and interpretation.

Qualifications

Relevant qualifications or experience in a gallery or museum environment with knowledge of museum registration, conservation and storage methods.
Qualification in Art History, Visual arts and/or Museum studies with industry experience.
Experience working with artworks in a cultural collection and using collection management databases.

Responsibilities

Research, plan, develop and deliver exhibitions and collection displays to timelines and priorities.
Identify opportunities for acquisitions, loans, gifts and collection development.
Work with artists, lenders, guest curators and internal teams to deliver exhibitions and projects.
Coordinate exhibition production including installation, de-installation, labels and loan documentation.
Undertake research, writing and publication management for catalogues and essays.
Maintain accurate collection, project and financial records and contribute to reports.
