Job summary

Rumbalara Aboriginal Co-Operative in Mooroopna seeks a mature Yorta Yorta Male Cultural Advisor to lead cultural governance across the organisation and provide guidance to Board, CEO and staff.

The role strengthens cultural safety and practices within programs, mentors staff, and leads ceremonies, events and healing activities to support communities affected by intergenerational trauma.

$53 – $60 per hour + $15900 Salary Packaging p.a.

Rumbalara Aboriginal Co-Operative – Corporate Services now has the following vacancy at our Mooroopna Office

Full-time | 38 hours per week

This is an Aboriginal Designated Position, classified under 'special measures' of Section 12 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010. Only Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are eligible to apply.

About the Role

Rumbalara Aboriginal Co-operative is seeking a mature and respected Yorta Yorta Male to provide cultural leadership, guidance and support across the organisation.

Reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, the Cultural Advisor is responsible for strengthening and promoting Aboriginal culture across Rumbalara by ensuring cultural knowledge, cultural safety and cultural practices are embedded in all programs, services and activities. The role provides cultural advice and guidance to the Board, CEO, management and staff, while supporting cultural governance and culturally informed decision-making.

The Cultural Advisor will lead cultural ceremonies, events and activities, provide cultural supervision and mentoring to Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal staff, and deliver cultural, spiritual and healing programs that support individuals, families and communities impacted by intergenerational trauma. The role also plays an important part in fostering cultural connections, sharing cultural knowledge and building the cultural capability of staff across the organisation.

Have the ability to foster cultural connections and share cultural knowledge

An understanding of the historical and contemporary issues and impacts for Aboriginal people, their families and communities.
