Play a key role in designing, developing and delivering complex clinical trials systems that support innovative research and contribute to improved research outcomes

Salary from $152,045 to $160,430 plus 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

The Lead Developer - Clinical Trials Systems will provide technical leadership and expertise in the development, enhancement and ongoing support of complex clinical trials systems. The role will lead significant software development initiatives, provide technical direction and make strategic architectural decisions to ensure systems are scalable, secure, reliable and aligned with the University's business and research requirements.

The position will be responsible for architecting and developing highly complex systems across both front-end and back-end environments, working across a broad range of web development technologies, programming and scripting languages. The role will apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills to investigate complex technical issues and develop effective, sustainable solutions.

Your key responsibilities will be to:
  • Lead complex software development initiatives, providing technical direction and strategic guidance.
  • Architect highly complex systems and make strategic design decisions that support business and technical objectives.
  • Establish and maintain rigorous testing and quality assurance processes, ensuring defects and errors are identified, addressed and resolved effectively.
  • Oversee large-scale software deployments, ensuring successful implementation with minimal disruption.
  • Establish and maintain documentation standards, ensuring documentation is accurate, consistent and effectively implemented.
  • Liaise with cross-functional teams and key stakeholders, championing effective stakeholder engagement to drive collaboration and achieve work area objectives.
  • Support work area reporting and compliance requirements, ensuring accuracy, effective system integration and adherence to University policies and procedures.
  • Work collaboratively to strengthen risk management processes, proactively address workplace health and safety requirements, and support preparation for internal reviews and evaluations.
About you

Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to investigate complex technical issues, assess information and make sound technical decisions.

Excellent written and verbal communication and leadership skills and the ability to interact with all levels of stakeholders, support personnel, and clients.

Ability to gather requirements, understand data dependencies and structure, liaise with stakeholders and create documentation.

Strong technical expertise in the design, development, testing and debugging of software applications/APIs and strong knowledge of integration best practices and standards including working across a broad range of web development technologies.

7+ years of software development experience. The experience must include web service and API technologies such as REST API, SOAP Webservices, RAML and/or Swagger, JSON, XML

Strong Web/API development skills using :

  • C#, ASP.NET, ASP.NET Web API, ASP.NET MVC , .NET framework 4.5, 4.6, Entity Framework Core and .NET Core MVC. LINQ, ASP.NET Identi t y, JWT
  • HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, JavaScript, jQuery, React or Angular
  • Microsoft SQL Server database schema design, T-SQL and basic administration and performance tuning
  • Test, debug, diagnose and bug fixing with testing guidelines and quality standards ensuring programs and applications perform to business specifications

Extensive experience working with software testing frameworks such as Playwright or Selenium including developing and implementing effective testing and quality
