Job summary

Bethesda Mount Hospital is seeking a CSSD Supervisor to lead the decontamination, packing and sterilisation of reusable instruments. The role reports to the CSSD Manager and operates Monday to Friday with no on-call duties.

You will oversee quality control and adherence to AS5369:2023 standards in a supportive environment, managing staff rosters, budgeting, and equipment maintenance to ensure top-tier operating theatres and wards.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Health Service Assistance (Sterilizing Services) or equivalent.
• Minimum three years’ experience sterilising complex medical instruments.
• Minimum 1 year CSSD supervisory or team leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of AS5369:2023 sterilisation standards.
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122) or equivalent – desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team in preventing and controlling healthcare-associated infections.
• Provide leadership and foster positive team dynamics within the CSSD department.
• Conduct monthly audits and in-service education.
• Organise maintenance and repairs of CSSD equipment.
• Manage staff rosters and allocations.
• Maintain reporting and monitoring systems, complete audits, validate CSSD processes and oversee quality control and electronic instrument tracking.
• Participate in CSSD capital and operational budgeting and ensure systems support ongoing compliance.
