Job summary

St Vincent's Health Australia is seeking an Instrument Technician to join their sterilising department in East Melbourne, servicing 11 Operating Theatres. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting, cleaning, and decontaminating instruments, loading and unloading sterilising equipment, and preparing for surgeries.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualification includes Certificate III or IV in Instrument Technology from an accredited institution.
• Experience as a Grade III Instrument Technician for at least 1 year or 3 years as a Grade IV is required.
• Must be capable of performing complex tasks within defined procedures and guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Collect, clean and decontaminate equipment used by the Operating Suite.
• Load and unload ultrasonic, instrument washers, dryers and sterilisers.
• Inspect and reassemble items as required.

Skills

Instrument technician qualification, Certificate III or IV

Minimum 1 year experience as Grade III Instrument Technician or 3 years as Grade IV

Ability to undertake complex work within established procedures

Ability to rotate through all areas of the department

Experience in loans department and theatre set-ups

Education

Certificate III or IV from an accredited institution
