Job summary

RSPCA NSW is seeking a Case Worker to join the Crisis Support Programs team. You will support clients and their pets across aged care, domestic violence, homelessness, emergency boarding and Pet Emergency Treatment programs, delivering a range of animal-related services and liaising with welfare agencies.

The role is a full-time 12-month contract with a rotating weekend on-call roster, requiring availability outside normal hours and occasional on-site responses to urgent cases, while upholding

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, community welfare or equivalent (essential).
• Current and unrestricted driver's license (essential).
• Experience working with vulnerable individuals/families in aged care/domestic violence/homelessness/mental health/disability sectors.
• Case management experience (essential).
• Experience in comprehensive needs assessment.
• Developed effective strategies and decisiveness in emotionally charged situations.
• Ability to exercise discretionary authority within role.

Responsibilities

• Review cases referred by Intake Officer.
• Evaluate requirements for each enquiry and access to services.
• Conduct risk assessment for transport jobs involving RSPCA staff/volunteers.
• Maintain positive client relationships and develop external agency connections.
• Ensure communication with all required parties regarding client and animal care.
• Liaise with external agencies for service delivery to new clients.
• Record-keeping of all interactions for Crisis Support Programs.
• Update client/animal information on required platforms (e.g., Ezyvet, Salesforce).
• Assist with in-home and transportation duties as needed.
• Roster on-call weekends for emergencies and assist with weekend workload.
• Maintain communication with Animal Officer regarding updates and treatment plans.
• Adhere to financial policy for service provision under Crisis Support Programs.
• Record monthly output statistics and provide insights into service demand.
• Raise community awareness of human wellbeing and animal welfare links.
• Deliver presentations to human welfare organisations or similar.
• Build on relationships to grow Crisis Support Programs' reach and impact.
• Participate in training of new team members and collaborate across departments.
• Model RSPCA NSW WHS policies and contribute to a safe work environment.
• Contribute to future development and expansion of Crisis Support Programs.
