Metcash Limited in Australia seeks a skilled Credit Officer for a full-time, permanent role based at Crestmead. The role operates in a hybrid environment: on-site three days per week with the flexibility to work remotely for the remaining days.

You will manage end-to-end credit lifecycles, assess new applications, review financial information and references, monitor trading performance, and drive timely collections while balancing risk with commercial outcomes.

About the Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Credit Officer to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis, based at our Crestmead office. Operating in a hybrid work environment, you'll work on-site three days per week while enjoying the flexibility of working remotely for the remainder of the week.

In this role, you'll be responsible for managing the end-to-end credit lifecycle of customer accounts, balancing commercial outcomes with effective credit risk management. Working closely with customers and internal stakeholders, you'll play a key role in optimising cash flow, reducing financial risk, and maintaining strong customer relationships that support the ongoing success of the business.

In this Role

• Assess new credit applications in line with company policy and delegated authority
• Review financial information, trade references, and supporting documentation
• Monitor customer trading performance and financial position
• Manage a ledger of customer accounts to ensure timely payment
• Conduct proactive collection activities (calls, emails, dunning processes)
• Monitor accounts for signs of financial distress, payment irregularities, or risk triggers
• Apply credit holds or restrictions in line with policy where required
• Ensure all actions align with internal credit policy and company standards

• Strong understanding of credit risk principles and cash collection strategies
• Experience in end to end credit control environment
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Understanding of overdue debt levels and ageing profile
• Ability to balance commercial outcomes with risk management
• High attention to detail with strong documentation discipline
