Job summary

BlueWave Talent is assisting Australia’s top local online business lender in Sydney to appoint a Credit Team Leader. You will run the daily credit queue, lead a team of three and still assess deals daily.

You’ll balance risk with commercial opportunity, coach analysts, and partner with Sales, Operations and Risk, using Excel to spot trends and drive improvements. A DLA in commercial lending and hands-on credit experience are required.

Qualifications

• DLA in commercial or SME lending is required.
• Hands-on credit experience with complex/high-value deals.
• Strong analytical mindset with comfort in reporting and Excel.
• Ability to say yes/no with explanation and reasoned judgment.
• Experience coaching others; formal leadership is a bonus.
• Relevant degree in Finance, Economics, or Business.

Responsibilities

• Run the daily credit queue, allocate work and keep decisions moving.
• Assess applications personally and engage brokers and Sales on calls.
• Be the go-to person on complex and larger deals.
• Balance commercial opportunity with credit policy and risk appetite.
• Use workflow and data in Excel to spot trends and fix root causes.
• Coach the team and translate policy changes into practical guidance.
• Work closely with Sales, Operations and Risk.

Keep your DLA, stay on the tools and lead a small team of three.

My client is one of Australia's largest locally owned online small business lenders, and a regular on the Top 5 employer lists. They assess businesses on how they actually trade, using real time data, so they can say yes to more business owners, faster.

They're looking for a Credit Team Leader to run the daily credit queue and lead a team of three, while still assessing deals every day.

What you’ll be doing:

• Running the queue day to day, allocating work and keeping decisions moving
• Assessing applications yourself and taking calls with brokers and Sales
• Being the go to person on complex and larger deals
• Balancing commercial opportunity with credit policy and risk appetite
• Using workflow and quality data in Excel to spot trends and fix root causes
• Coaching the team and turning policy changes into practical guidance
• Working closely with Sales, Operations and Risk

What you’ll bring:

• A current or previous DLA in commercial or SME lending
• Strong hands on credit experience, including complex or high value deals
• A highly analytical mindset and comfort with reporting and Excel
• The confidence to say yes, no or not yet, and explain why
• Experience coaching others. Formal leadership is a bonus, not a must
• A relevant degree (Finance, Economics, Business or similar)

$160k - $170k plus super, a CBD office with one work from home day a week, and a team that gets things done.
