Job summary

Cygnet Health Care is seeking a Credit Controller to join the Head Office Finance team at the Kingshill office for a 12-month FTC during maternity leave. The role focuses on high-volume revenue collection for the FT ledger and resolving related queries.

You will chase debts, maintain accurate notes, and escalate issues as needed, while supporting the team and ensuring cash targets are met. Hybrid work arrangement offered with in-office and WFH days.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of credit control experience is desirable.
• Experience with accounts receivable procedures would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Chasing debt by email and occasionally by phone, with a defined set of accounts and payment terms.
• Keep overdue debt to a minimum with clear status notes and next steps.
• Handle a high level of complex queries and follow the escalation process.
• Raise credit requests in line with the credit note policy promptly.
• Identify delays or high-risk issues and discuss with the Senior or Credit Control Manager.
• Attend weekly 1:1s to review debtors and targets with the team manager.
• Demonstrate good reconciliation and analysis of large data sets.
• Build strong relationships with customers to ensure efficient service.
• Prioritise workload and support teammates during busy periods.

Cygnet Health Care is one of the UK’s largest independent providers of mental health care. Cygnet is looking to appoint a Credit Controller to join our growing Head Office Finance team based in Kingshill office.

Please note this is a 12 months’ FTC covering Maternity Leave.

Purpose of the role:

This is a role within the Healthcare Credit Control team as a Credit Controller working on the FT ledger. This role ensures all revenue is collected in a timely fashion on a high volume/high value ledger and dealing with the associated queries that come up.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Chasing debt by email and sometimes phone. You will have a set of accounts to chase, and ensure all invoices are chased and paid in accordance with our payment terms.
• Ensuring overdue debt is kept to a minimum with clear status notes and plan on next steps.
• Dealing with a high level of complex queries and following the query resolution and escalation process.
• Raising credit requests in line with the credit note policy in a timely manner.
• To identify any potential delays or high-risk issues on an account and discussing this with the Senior or Credit Control Manager.
• To attend weekly 1:1’s with the team manager to go through a debtor review, ensuring the monthly cash targets are being achieved.
• Good eye for reconciliation and analysis of large groups of data.
• Building good relationships with customers and ensuring an efficient service is being delivered.
• Being able to manage and prioritise your workload in a busy environment.
• Supporting all team members when necessary and during key financial periods.

Experience

• 2-3 years’ experience of credit control is desirable. Also experience of accounts receivable procedures would be beneficial.
• Working with large data sets, comfortable with manipulating excel spreadsheets.
